The symposium schedule is jam packed with amazing presentations and topics. My contribution to the symposium will be in the form of 2 presentations and participation in panel discussions. I will also be available during the symposium to address any specific questions or discuss any cases of envenomation.
I will also be focusing upon the recent spider bite related death that occurred in Eswatini. What and how can we learn from this incident.

The symposium will be hosted by Simunye Country Club & Lodge, Lusoti Village, Simunye, Eswatini, on the 3rd December 2021 and repeated on the 4th December 2021. I feel very honoured and excited to be participating in the Eswatini Snakebite Symposium on the 3rd and 4th December. 2021.
Although the main focus of the symposium will be upon snakes and snakebite, I will be participating as a panel member and to present on Spider bites, scorpion stings and also centipede bites.
Over the past year, there have been an increasing number of centipede bites with have been a cause for concern, more than a few medically important scorpion stings, and more recently a spider bite related death. I’ll be addressing some of the more prominent cases of envenomation in my presentation and as a panel member.
If you are a medical professional or just want to deepen your understanding of these creatures, then this is a fantastic opportunity that you simply cannot miss. It’s a unique gathering of all the top snakebite, spider bite and scorpion sting specialists in Southern Africa, all coming together to address the challenges and management of bites and stings that not only Eswatini, but also Southern Africa.
There will be presentations on a variety of subjects to do with envenomation and medical treatment. There will practical demonstration, panel discussions, but more importantly, it’s an opportunity to ask those questions that you have always wanted to ask.
The event venue can only accommodate 100 participants, however this year, the symposium will be streamed online. Regardless of where your are in the world, you will be able to attend this unique event.
