Description

The Pegler’s Pygmy Thick-Tail Scorpion (Pseudolychas pegleri) is a small scorpion with an average length about 25mm. Overall colouration dark-brown to reddish-brown throughout it’s range. Shape of venom vesicle is characteristic being large with a short recurved sting. Occurs in humid places such as riverine habitats where it shelters surface debris such as under rocks, logs and in leaf litter. The shape of the sting differentiates this species from any other Uroplectes.

Quick to use secondary defensive behaviour, stings from this small sized, highly venomous species are uncommon. A sting typically results in class 2 or mild class 3 symptoms.
