The South African Bird Fair, hosted by BirdLife South Africa and supported by Chamberlains Hardware, is the premier annual birding event in the country. I'm pleased to be hosting a Biomimicry Walk at Birdfair 2026 from 9am to 10:30am. After the walk, I'll be at the market area with my books and promoting spider bite and scorpion sting awareness. If you are at the Birdfair, pop in a say hi!
Biomimicry Walk
Birdfair 2026, Pretoria Botanical Gardens
5th September 2026, 9am to 10:30am
The Biomimicry Walk focuses upon how wherever there has been a challenge, nature has found a way to conquer it. Since humans live under the same laws of nature, it makes sense that we learn from the inner workings of the natural world to solve the biggest challenges of our time.
The walk consists of an exploration of the environment through the perspective of biomimicry. Deepening our understanding of the world by focusing upon technology hidden in plain sight as well as exploring how biomimicry can help us live a happier, healthier and more meaningful life?
The content and format of this walk is taken from Jonathan Leeming’s award winning book One World.
One World
We are the first generation who truly understands that the world our children grow up in will be vastly different from our own. How we overcome the challenges of our time, will make the difference between a world that we tolerate, and a world in which we prosper. One World is divided into 3 sections. The first section, Right Here, Right Now, is an exploration of our current reality. The second section, Creating An Understanding, touches upon the broader and more important concepts that help us understand the world. The third section, The Future Starts Now, focuses upon the change, innovation and leadership that is so desperately needed to create the future we desperately desire.

Bookings for the Biomimicry Walk can be made when purchasing a ticket for the Birdfair. Go to the ticket purchase page and you will see an option to include a ticket for the Biomimicry Walk. Note that we are limited to 20 participants for the walk. If the Biomimicry Walk is fully booked please go to my Events Page for additional Biomimicry and other events at alternative locations.
