Jonathan Leeming is planning a visit to the Lowveld area from 25th September to 5th October 2026 for a series of private and public scorpion sting first response courses and events. The focus is on developing leadership skills to step up to the challenge of scorpion sting first response in an area that experiences its fair share of medically important stings.
The Essential Scorpion Sting First Response Course offers a new and innovative science based first response framework that reduces the chance of being stung by a scorpion, and if there is a sting, how to ensure the best possible outcome for stings in humans and animals.
This framework offers a new classification scheme that defines boundaries, indicates response, the progression of symptoms and timeframes, how to recognise symptoms that can be treated using first aid, and when professional medical intervention is required. First aid protocols are given to all participants. Everyone gets a flow diagram that shows step by step how to respond to a scorpion sting. Medical professionals that attend receive the AfriTox scorpion envenomation guidelines.
The content of the course is based upon Jonathan's latest book, Essential Scorpion Sting First Response which offers an innovative science based first response framework that reduces the chance of being stung by a scorpion, and if there is a sting, how to ensure the best possible outcome for stings in humans and animals.
Although the course and assessment is presented in English, the course content is presented in a visual, easy to understand and practical way without any complex language. For individuals where English is not their first language, Jonathan will be available to help individuals to complete the assessment. Additional supporting material is available for these individuals. Everyone receives a certificate for the course regardless of the final mark.
